ACCESSIBLE MEDIA INC. (AMI): VOICEPRINT AND TACtv CELEBRATE “WHITE CANE WEEK 2010”
A Must- Hear Line-Up Of Special Programming from VoicePrint, February 7-13
Toronto, ON: (Tuesday, February 2, 2010) Every year the award-winning VoicePrint, Canada’s 24/7 audio newsstand and a global leader in breaking barriers to print information, joins with hundreds of individuals and organizations committed to a more inclusive Canada to mark an important awareness-raising celebration.
That event: the Canadian Council of the Blind’s (CCB) annual salute to the White Cane, one of the world’s most stirring symbols of greater accessibility.
“We’re very pleased to play a key role in promoting ‘White Cane Week 2010,’” says David Errington, President and CEO of Accessible Media Inc.-AMI (formerly NBRS), the non-profit charity that operates VoicePrint, now celebrating its 20th anniversary, and The Accessible Channel-TACtv, now celebrating its 1st anniversary.
“From February 7th to 13th VoicePrint has an exciting schedule of special ‘White Cane Week’-related programs,” adds Errington that will inform, educate and illuminate all listeners about Canadians who are blind and low vision – their triumphs, aspirations and accomplishments.”
During “White Cane Week” on VoicePrint you’ll hear a series of interviews with Canadians who have compelling and engaging stories to tell about accessibility, about independence, about life as they know it – and live it.
“It’s a great line-up,” says Harold Schnellert, the CCB’s National President, “and we thank VoicePrint and AMI for playing such a vital role in helping us to show all Canadians the great strides made by people who are blind and low vision – and the challenges we still face. I’ll be tuning in for sure.”
